Discerning the Signs of Our Times

Discerning the Signs of Our Times Most of us check the weather forecast every single morning. We look at the app on our phone or step outside to look at the sky. If we see dark clouds, we grab an umbrella. We do this because we know how to read the signs of nature, and we want to be ready for the day. We are usually very good at reading physical signs like storm clouds. Sadly, we are often blind to the warning signs in the culture around us. In the Book of Matthew, Jesus speaks directly to this kind of blindness. In Matthew 16:3, He says, "...O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?" Jesus was telling the people that it is foolish to notice the weather but completely miss what is happening right in front of them. The World Around Us Our society is going through major shifts right now. It is hard to ignore the changes. We see economic stress, rising prices, and a massive breakdown in basic moral values. Things that used to feel totally safe and stable do not feel that way anymore. Public trust is gone. Even our supply chains and local communities feel fragile. These changes are not just random events. They show us a culture that is moving rapidly away from God and His truth. The Danger of Doing Nothing It is very easy to ignore these problems. Many people choose to pretend that everything will just go back to normal on its own. They want to stay comfortable. This creates a dangerous kind of spiritual blindness. We experience this blindness when we choose our own comfort over the truth. If we refuse to see the danger coming, we cannot protect the people we love. True wisdom means looking at the world with honest eyes. We cannot afford to sleep through these warnings. A Call to Action God does not show us these signs so that we will panic. He does not want us to live in constant fear. Fear does not come from God. Instead, He shows us the truth so that we will wake up. He wants us to see the world clearly so we can protect our families and share the Gospel with our neighbors. True readiness does not start with supplies. It begins with a clear mind, a saved soul, and a commitment to live a holy life right now. Choose Your Path The storm clouds are moving in quickly. The signs of the times are clear for anyone who is willing to look. We must stop making excuses and start preparing our hearts and our homes today. Now is the time to decide. Will you be caught off guard when the storm hits, or will you stand strong on the truth of God?
