So, please look here often, and, THANK YOU for reading.} When a massive storm hits the coast, ships out at sea face a very dangerous situation. The strong winds push against them, and the giant waves try to capsize them. A ship does not survive a storm by running away or by trying to fight the waves on its own strength. It survives by dropping a heavy iron anchor deep into the ocean floor. In our world today, the cultural, economic, and social storms are getting worse. The constant stream of bad news can easily make us feel like we are drifting out at sea. We feel the pressure, and we worry about what tomorrow will bring. Thankfully, God did not leave us to get tossed around by the world. In the Book of Hebrews, the Bible gives us a beautiful promise about how to maintain our emotional and mental stability: > Hebrews 6:19 – "Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;" The Danger of Emotional Drift It is very easy to let the constant chaos of our society get inside our minds. When we spend all day watching the news or talking about how bad things are getting, we begin to drift. We drift into anxiety, panic, and deep fear. When a believer drifts emotionally, they lose their ability to lead. They start making frantic decisions based on fear rather than wise choices based on faith. True personal resilience means refusing to let the chaos of the world dictate the peace of your heart. You cannot control the storm outside, but through Christ, you can control the condition of your mind. Why Our Anchor Holds A physical anchor is only as good as the ground it hooks into under the water. If you drop an anchor into soft mud, the ship will still pull away. If you hook it into solid rock, the ship will not move. Our spiritual anchor does not hook into our own human strength. It does not hook into our bank accounts, our jobs, or even our physical supply collections. If we anchor our emotions to earthly things, we will fail because earthly things can disappear in a moment. Our anchor hooks directly into the unchangeable character and promises of Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us that God cannot lie, and His promises never fail. Because Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever, your emotional stability can remain secure. When your soul is anchored in Christ, you can look at a shaking world and remain completely steady. How to Drop Your Anchor An anchor does no good if it stays sitting on the deck of the ship. You have to throw it into the water. To build real personal resilience, you must actively choose to drop your anchor every single day. First, you must change what you are consuming. If you feed your mind with hours of secular noise, panic, and negativity, you will feel empty and afraid. You must replace that noise with the eternal truth of the King James Bible. Second, you must commit your cares to God in prayer. When you pray, you take the heavy burden off your own shoulders and place it into the hands of the Almighty. When the next wave of societal trouble or economic hardship hits your community, you do not have to panic. A well-anchored Christian can stand firm. You can look at the storm, comfort your children, protect your household, and help your neighbors because you know exactly who is holding your ship. The storms of life are guaranteed to come, but sinking is completely optional. Check where your anchor is dropped today. Stop trusting in the fragile things of this world, and drop your anchor deep into the rock-solid truth of Jesus Christ. Stand strong, keep a sound mind, and let your stability be a light to a frightened world.
